Nelis and Garwood Receive 2023 NSCA All-American Athlete Awards

COLORADO SPRINGS, Co. – The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) has announced baseball's Cade Nelis and women's track and field's Abbigail Garwood as Purdue Fort Wayne's 2023 All-American Strength and Conditioning Athletes of the Year recipients. This award recognizes Nelis and Garwood's athletic accomplishments and their dedication to strength and conditioning. Nominated by Patrick Rawle, Director of Sports Performance at Purdue University Fort Wayne, Nelis' and Garwood's determination to improve in athletics while maintaining academic prominence was highlighted by Rawle as a model for all student-athletes at Purdue Fort Wayne.
"These two student-athletes have demonstrated incredible hard work and dedication to improving their physical performance, which will in turn will enhance their performance in competition," Rawle said. "They are truly deserving of this recognition on a national scale, and it was an honor to present them with this award."
Administration from the NSCA also contributed remarks, stating that: "We are proud to have Patrick join the NSCA in its mission to safely improve athletic performance," says Eric McMahon, NSCA's Coaching and Sport Science Program Manager, "Supporting our student-athletes like Cade and Abbi guarantees a stronger future for the NSCA."
