FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Seth Mahlmeister scored two goals and Aidan Antcliff added another as Purdue Fort Wayne took down Wright State 3-1 on Saturday night (Sept. 23).
The win is the fourth win in a row for the Mastodons, their longest winning streak since 2018. The 'Dons are also now on a five-match unbeaten streak. It's also their third Horizon League win in a row and marks the first time in program history that the 'Dons have won three straight Horizon League matches.
Wright State struck first with a goal in the 10th minute. A shot from 20 yards out was finished by Reece Allbaugh to put the Raiders up 1-0. It would be the only shot on goal for the Raiders all game.
Mahlmeister found the equalizer in the 22nd on a similar shot. Christian Leon stole the ball from a Raider and pushed it to Mahlmeister who delivered a strike in to the goal to knot the game up at 1-1.
In the 43rd minute, Aidan Antcliff headed a corner kick from Soshi Fujioka into the goal for his first goal of the season that gave the 'Dons the lead going into the half.
In the second half, Marco Valencia found Mahlmeister, and the junior found the back of the net for his second goal of the match to put Purdue Fort Wayne up 3-1. Mahlmeister now has four goals on the season.
The Mastodons improve to 4-2-1 (3-0-0 Horizon) this season. Wright State falls to 2-3-3 (1-2-0 Horizon). Purdue Fort Wayne hosts Adrian Wednesday (Sept. 27) at 5 p.m.
