AJ Agnew Takes Sixth at The Indy

RICHMOND, Ind. - AJ Agnew of the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team had the best finish of his young career on Friday (Sept. 29), when he finished sixth at The Indy.
An individuals-only, Miami (OH) cast a wide net to bring in individuals from Michigan, Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, IU East, Cincinnati, Chicago State, Purdue, Purdue Fort Wayne, Bowling Green, Ball State, Butler, Ohio and Miami Middletown. Agnew finished behind two from Michigan and three from Kentucky.
Agnew's sixth-place finish came by way of a 75-68-143 day. His second round of 68 tied his season-best. In the morning, he had three birdies in a row on holes 1-3. He had eight pars the rest of the way. In the afternoon round, he had birdies fall on holes two, four, seven, 14 and 18. He had just one bogey on the back nine to shoot 1-under.
Brock Reschly tied for 11th with a 74-72-146. In the morning, he had birdies on holes one and six to go with 11 pars. He was 1-under on the front nine. In the afternoon, he shot 72, which is the best of his freshman campaign so far. He had birdies on holes seven and 13, with an even par front nine.
In his first action of 2023-24, Reece Compton tied for 24th with a 74-75-149. He had birdies on holes one, seven, 14 and 18 in the morning round and hole six in the afternoon. His opening round included six pars, while round two was more consistent with 11.
Jadden Ousley tied for 39th, shooting 77-80-157. He got a birdie to fall on hole 14 in round one to go with 10 pars. In round two, he got a birdie on the par-3 15th to pair with nine pars.
Michigan's Jude Kim won the event with a 67-72-139.
The Mastodons are back in action on Monday (Oct. 2) at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational.
