Cleveland State is 18-4 and 9-2 in the Horizon League this season. The Vikings are coming off their second Horizon League loss of the season, a 69-56 loss at Detroit Mercy. Prior to that game, they had won seven in a row. Despite losing 2022-23 Player of the Year Destiny Leo to injury, the Vikings have found production from Colbi Maples and Mickayla Perdue, who are both averaging about 16 points per game.

Erin Woodson collected her third Freshman of the Week award on January 29. She averaged 10 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, helping Purdue Fort Wayne to wins over Chicago State and Northern Kentucky. She is the first Mastodon in program history to earn Freshman of the Week honors three times.
