FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne men's volleyball head coach Donny Gleason announced two additions to the 2025 coaching staff: Jake Gleason and Jon Diedrich. Gleason will be the Mastodons' assistant coach and Diedrich will fill the graduate assistant position.
Jake Gleason played three years of collegiate volleyball for NCAA Division III Nazareth. Gleason spent the last two seasons playing for Team LVC in the Volleyball League of America, winning the East Cup and the League Championship in 2023. He was the Girls 16-1s Head Coach at Paradigm Volleyball Club from 2017-24, where he was in charge of coordinating team travel and organizing team logistics. During the same time, Gleason was the varsity assistant coach for Pittsford Sutherland High School. He was responsible for the coordination of practice sessions, game preparation, scouting, and fundraising efforts, along with analyzing game film footage.
"Jake will be a great fit in the Purdue Fort Wayne men's volleyball program," Donny Gleason said. "With his collegiate playing experience and club coaching experience, he'll be ready to step into the gym right away and help the players improve. It's vital for me to have someone in this role that I can trust to help establish the culture, and I have no doubt he'll help to deliver a consistent message to the players."
Diedrich is familiar with the program and looks to aid the Mastodons from the bench after spending five seasons on the court. In his five seasons with the Mastodons, Diedrich was a two-time AVCA All-America Honorable Mention (2022, 2024) and was three time First Team All-MIVA (2022, 2023, 2024). He played in 114 matches, the sixth-most in the program's history, during his time at Purdue Fort Wayne. Diedrich finished seventh in career kills in program history, with 1,485. Diedrich played professionally in Puerto Rico over the summer.
"Asking Jon to come back to the program in a coaching capacity was a no-brainer," Donny Gleason said. "His experience on the court at Purdue Fort Wayne speaks for itself, knowing how to be a high-level performer at the MIVA level. Beyond just being a great player, he knows how to make the people around him better. Everyone in the Purdue Fort Wayne Athletics department is excited to have him back in the building. I'm confident he will bring a passion and fire to the gym as he shifts roles in the program".
