Purdue Fort Wayne WSOC Begins Postseason Run on Sunday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer team will make its third Horizon League Championship appearance in the last four seasons on Sunday (Nov. 3). The Mastodons will visit Detroit Mercy for the quarterfinal at 1 p.m.

Tournament Outlook
The Mastodons clinched the No. 6 seed in the Horizon League Championship and will play No. 3 Detroit Mercy in the quarterfinal round. With a win, the Mastodons would move on to play top-seeded Milwaukee on the Panthers' home field. As the No. 1 overall seed, Milwaukee will host the semifinal and final, no matter who is playing.
All-League Recognition
Senior defender Malia Velker was named to the All-Horizon League Second Team on Friday (Nov. 1). She started in 18-of-19 games, leading the Mastodon back line to seven shutouts, the second-most in a season in program history.
Know Your Foe
Detroit Mercy finished 7-1-2 in the Horizon League season to earn the No. 3 seed in the Horizon League Championship. The Titans are 6-3 at home this season, only losing to Northern Kentucky at home in league play. Abbey Lodato and Joyelle Washington were named to the All-Horizon League First Team. Head coach Steve Shelton was selected as the Horizon League Coach of the Year.
