FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Jalen Jackson scored 17 points in a 68-65 loss for the Purdue Fort Wayne men's basketball team on Thursday (Feb. 1) to Milwaukee at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
Rasheed Bello added 13 points and six assists. Quinton Morton-Robertson had 12.
The 'Dons trailed by as many as 11 in the first half. Purdue Fort Wayne cut it to a two-point deficit at 28-26 on an Anthony Roberts dunk with 4:14 left. But the Panthers would take a 38-32 lead to half.
Jackson scored 11 of his 17 points in the second half and was a big reason the 'Dons took the lead back in the second half. A layup by Johnathan DeJurnett gave the 'Dons a 55-54 lead with 9:11 left.
The 'Dons limited Milwaukee to 34.4 percent shooting in the second half but the Panthers' BJ Freeman scored seven points in the final minutes of the game to give the lead back to the visitors. The 'Dons were down three with 1.7 seconds left and called for time. A full court heave found Roberts with a chance at a three to tie the game, but his shot was off the mark.
Freeman finished with a game-high 26 points.
The 'Dons fall to 14-8 (5-6 Horizon League). Milwaukee improves to 11-11 (6-5 Horizon League). The 'Dons host Youngstown State on Sunday (Feb. 4) at the Gates Sports Center.
