FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne pin hitters Jon Diedrich and Mark Frazier have been named to the All-MIVA First Team, the conference announced on Thursday (April 11).
This is Diedrich's third All-MIVA First Team honor. He is the first three-time honoree for the Mastodons since Pelegrin Vargas who earned four First Team All-MIVA honors (2018-21). This season, Diedrich finished with 3.78 kills per set on a career-best .293 hitting percentage. Diedrich was named the MIVA Offensive Player of the Week three times this year, which included one of the best individual performances of the 2024 season on a national level. He had 37 kills in a five-set match against Ball State, which was the most by any player in a match this season. He reached the double-digit kill threshold in 19 matches.
Frazier is a newcomer to the All-MIVA First Team. He has steadily increased his season averages throughout his career, culminating to a 3.84 kills per set mark this season. He was an efficient .323 this season, which ranked 26th in the nation and seventh in the MIVA. Frazier recorded double-digit kills in 23 of the 25 matches the Mastodons played in 2024, including three of 22 or more. Defensively, he had four matches with double-digit digs. His 26 aces also rank 11th in the MIVA.
This is the fourth year in a row that two Mastodons have been named to the First Team All-MIVA.
