FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Ryan "Rock" Perrotte has announced his resignation from his post as the Purdue Fort Wayne men's volleyball head coach.
"I want to thank Coach Perrotte for his service to Purdue University Fort Wayne," Director of Athletics Kelley Hartley Hutton said. "He has been a fantastic ambassador for our university, athletic department and men's volleyball program for nearly 30 years and I wish him the best in his future endeavors."
Perrotte came to the Summit City as a student-athlete for the Mastodons in 1996. He graduated in 1999, then returned as an assistant coach for the Mastodons under head coach Arnie Ball (2002-04, 2006-15). He was named the second head coach for the Mastodon men's volleyball program in 2016.
"It has been an absolute honor and privilege to be a member of the Mastodon athletic and volleyball family for nearly three decades," Perrotte said. "I cherish all the amazing memories as a student-athlete, assistant coach, and head coach. I'll always be a 'Don for life."
In his nine years at the helm, Perrotte led the 'Dons to a 113-119 overall record and 49-77 mark in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. In 2022, his squad advanced to the MIVA championship match.
While coaching with the Mastodons, he was also the head coach for the 2019 Team USA in the World University Games. He also served as a play-by-play and color commentator for Mastodon athletic events for over 20 years.
Under his leadership, the Mastodons had over 100 Academic All-MIVA honorees, dozens of MIVA Players of the Week, and eight All-America selections.
A national search will be conducted for the third head coach of Mastodon men's volleyball.
