Purdue Fort Wayne Cross Country Hosts Mastodon Alumni Open

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne cross country hosts the Mastodon Alumni Open for the third year in a row on Friday (Sept. 20). The event will take place at the Mastodon Cross Country Course near the Hefner Soccer Complex.

Schools Entered: Purdue Fort Wayne, Defiance, Goshen, St. Francis, Trine, Three Rivers Racing Elite, Purdue Fort Wayne Alumni team

Men's Preview: In the season's first meet, Austin Hall broke the program's 8K record with a time of 24:43:9, setting a new personal best. Another Mastodon notched his name in the top-5 8K finishers list, as Harrison Niswander sits third in program history with a time of 24:50:8. Both runners finished top five running on the course that will host the 2024 Horizon League Championship. Nicholas Mills was the third Mastodon to cross the finish line. Sam Dunnett entered Purdue Fort Wayne's top five in his first collegiate appearance, and Nathan Mills capped off the Mastodons' five at the Phoenix Open.

Women's Preview: In the season opener, Ava Genovese aided the 'Dons to a second place finish, as she finished fifth with a time of 22:24:8. Two Mastodon top five finishers finished with personal best times, Lydia Carrell (22:47.6) and Haylee Hile (22:55.7). Riley Tate finished immediately after Carrell, placing 13th with a time of 22:47.7. Kynzlei Bassett rounded out the Purdue Fort Wayne top five finishers in her first meet as a Mastodon.

Prior to the meet, the Little 'Dons 1 Mile Stampede will begin at 5:30 p.m.
