Mastodons Drop League Game 2-0 at Robert Morris

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer took their first Horizon League loss on Thursday (Sept. 26) in a 2-0 contest at Robert Morris.
The squads took the first 20 minutes of action to feel out the other, as both sides traded possession with no serious scoring threats.The Colonials earned the first shot of the game in the 22nd minute. The Mastodons responded with a pair of shots in the 30th minute, both within the box from Marisa Metzger and Audriana Rhyner.
The first half ended with only three shots on goal combined, the Mastodons accounting for two.
Robert Morris opened the second half with a goal in the 54th minute. Ava Trethewey scored the goal, assisted by Paloma Swankler. Just over 10 minutes later the Colonials took advantage of a Haleigh Finale penalty kick following a Purdue Fort Wayne handball in the box.
Mastodons finished the game with eight shots, two on goal, compared to 10 shots from Robert Morris, three on goal.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 6-4-1 (1-1-0 Horizon League). Robert Morris advances to 3-4-3 (2-1-0 Horizon League). The Mastodons will remain on the road as they travel to Youngstown State to play on Sunday (Sept. 29).
