Mastodons Fall Short at Wright State

DAYTON, Ohio - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's soccer team dropped their first Horizon League game of the season on Saturday (Sept. 28) in a 4-0 decision at Wright State.
Felipe Medina opened the match with the Mastodons' best chance in the fifth minute as Christian Leon sent a leading header that Medina sent just high of the goal. The next scoring chance from either team came in the 27th minute when Marco Valencia's strike toward the top left corner of the goal that was saved by Wright State goalkeeper Joel Shaw.
The Raiders scored the only goal of the first half when Cole Werthmuller snuck a shot into the bottom right corner of the goal in the 38th minute.
Wright State scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Felix Ezekwuka scored in the 49th minute and Henry Hutchinson scored in the 53rd minute. The Raiders added another to their lead in the waning minutes of the match as Brian Burkett finished on an open net.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 5-3-1 (2-1-0 Horizon League). Wright State moves to 5-3-2 (2-0-1 Horizon League).
