Mastodons Welcome IU Indianapolis for #HLVB League Contest

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball team will host IU Indianapolis on Tuesday (Oct. 1) for a Horizon League match at 7 p.m.

Know Your Foe
IU Indianapolis is 6-9 with an 0-2 start to Horizon League play, but played preseason favorite Wright State. The Jaguars pushed the Raiders to five sets on Saturday (Sept. 28) after taking the first two. The Jaguars had two common opponents with the Mastodons in the non-league slate: Eastern Michigan (L, 3-0) and Indiana State (W, 3-2).
Series History
One of the longest-standing rivalries in Mastodon volleyball, Purdue Fort Wayne has a 34-24 advantage over IU Indy. The Mastodons are 19-7 at home against the Jaguars. The Mastodons have also won the last five meetings. Last season in Fort Wayne, Panna Ratkai had 17 kills on a .429 hitting percentage.
League Leaders
There are a pair of Mastodons that lead the Horizon League in two statistical categories after the opening weekend of league play. LonDynn Betts has a league-best 6.29 digs per set and Jena Medearis is blocking 1.57 attempts per set.
Panna-Tastic
Panna Ratkai is one of five players from the 12-player All-Horizon League First Team back for 2024. Ratkai (OPOY) and Oakland's Emily Wichmann (DPOY) are the only major award winners back.
Jonesing For a Fanum Tax
Nicole Jones had three double-doubles in a row against Michigan State, Saint Francis (Pa.) and Indiana State, marking the first time since 2021 a Mastodon had done so. She was named the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational MVP for her efforts.
You Betts-a Believe It
LonDynn Betts became a member of the 1,000-dig club at Michigan State on September 17. She became the 21st Mastodon to join the club, and the first since Rachael Crucis in 2022.
Hungary for More
Panna Ratkai has 20 or more kills in 17 matches in her career with five coming this season. She had 12 as a redshirt-freshman. This season, she has 224 total kills, which ranks third in the country.
Last Time Out
Purdue Fort Wayne split its weekend at Robert Morris, picking up a win in the Saturday rematch. The Mastodons had 94 digs in that match, the most in a four-setter since 2012.
Next Time Up
Purdue Fort Wayne will hit the road to play at Green Bay on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 4-5).
