Mastodon WBB Handles Manchester in Exhibition

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Five Mastodons scored in double-figures on Thursday (Oct. 23) as the Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball team beat Manchester 92-30 in an exhibition contest.
Purdue Fort Wayne welcomed students from Fort Wayne Community Schools for a crowd of 873 for its annual Fitness Day.
With nine newcomers on the Purdue Fort Wayne roster, it was the first official time the Mastodons took the Arnie Ball Court for the 2025-26 season. Alana Nelson led the team in scoring with 15 points. She was joined in double-digits by Ella Riggs (12), Hillary Offing (10), Nika Lokica (10) and Rylee Bess (10).
The Mastodons racked up 22 assists compared to 10 turnovers. Bess had seven assists, a team-high. She paced the 'Dons to a 52.1 (38-of-73) field goal percentage and a 65.1 percent clip inside the arc.
Purdue Fort Wayne never trailed in the contest. The Mastodons' biggest run in the game was a 14-0 push over the last four minutes of the first quarter. Destiny Macharia and Bess each had a 3-pointer, Lokica had a pair of layups, Lili Krasovec had a layup, then Riggs had a mid-range jumper to put the 'Dons up 25-9.
Avery Wagner was a threat defensively, finishing with eight rebounds, four blocks and three steals while adding six points and two assists.
Manchester had double-digit scoring from Hannah Holmes and Abigail Rosenkrans.
Since the game was an exhibition, both teams stayed 0-0. The Mastodons will open the regular season with a trip to West Virginia on November 3.
