
NKU Tops Mastodon WVB

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball team dropped a three-set match to Northern Kentucky 25-13, 25-14, 25-16 on Friday night (Oct. 24).
NKU had a 10-3 run early in set one to go up 13-6, taking control of the frame. Similarly in set two, a 12-1 run put the Norse up 18-6.
In set three, another big run was NKU's winning formula. The Mastodons cut the Norse lead to 17-15, but NKU called timeout and answered back with an 8-1 finishing run.
Becky Barrett had a team-high 12 digs. Trinity Rye led the team offensively with nine kills.
NKU got nine kills from Kendall Hopewell, Allison Risley and Sydney Bray, the first of which hit .900.
Purdue Fort Wayne fell to 3-18, 1-9 in Horizon League play. NKU improved to 13-8, 9-1 HL. These two teams will face off again on Saturday (Oct. 25) at 2 p.m.
