'Dons Take Runner-Up at 2025 #HLXC Championships

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's cross country program earned runner-up at the 2025 Horizon League Cross Country Championship on Saturday morning (Nov. 1), as senior leaders Riley Tate and Ava Genovese both earned All-Horizon League honors.
It is the program's second runner-up finish in three seasons. The 'Dons took third last year.
Tate held a top-five position for the entirety of the race, finishing in third for Horizon League First Team honors for the second season in a row. The senior finished the Mastodon Cross Country Course in 20:49.1, the third best 6k time in program history. The Ohio native was on the Horizon League Second Team during her sophomore year. Genovese held on to her top-10 spot for the duration of the 6k, finishing in ninth (21:23.7) and earning a Horizon League Second Team slot. The Michigan native earned HL Second Team honors for the second season in a row.
Lydia Carrell was the next 'Don to finish, running the program's eighth best 6k time for 17th (21:44.5). Haylee Hile placed 20th (21:52.1). Faith Allen's personal record time of 22:00.3 rounded out the Purdue Fort Wayne top-five, finishing 25th.
The Mastodons recorded 74 points for second place at the Horizon League Championship. Youngstown State won the meet with 54 points.
All five remaining Mastodons to complete the course ran personal record times. Faith Norris earned 46th (22:36.3), Kynzlei Bassett placed 49th (22:38.0), Ava Milligan notched 66th (22:55.2), Amanda Williams finished 95th (23:47.1) and Nori Silva secured 108th (24:22.9).
The Mastodons will travel to Evansville on November 14 for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.
