Last Time Out (Women)
Purdue Fort Wayne matched their program-best league finish at the 2025 Horizon League Cross Country Championships (Nov. 1), claiming runner-up for the second time in three years. Riley Tate led the Mastodons, finishing in third for Horizon League First Team honors for the second season in a row. The senior finished the Mastodon Cross Country Course in 20:49.1, the third best 6k time in program history. Ava Genovese held on to her top-10 spot for the duration of the 6k, finishing in ninth (21:23.7) and earning a Horizon League Second Team slot. The Michigan native earned HL Second Team honors for the second season in a row. Lydia Carrell was the next 'Don to finish, running the program's eighth best 6k time for 17th (21:44.5). Haylee Hile placed 20th (21:52.1). Faith Allen's personal record time of 22:00.3 rounded out the Purdue Fort Wayne top-five, finishing 25th.
Last Time Out (Men)
The Mastodons finished in ninth at the 2025 Horizon League Championships (Nov. 1). Sam Dunnett led the 'Dons in the championship race, finishing in 32nd (24:51.7). Colten Gasson's time of 25:01.4 puts him seventh on the program's 8k record book, earning 40th at the meet. Freshman Jack Strong ran a personal record 25:07.3 for 43rd. Harrison Niswander placed 44th (25:13.1). Boden Genovese's personal record time of 25:36.1 and 63rd place rounded out the Purdue Fort Wayne top-five finishers.
Strong Performance
Jack Strong was named #HLXC Freshman Runner of the Week (Sept. 9) after the Mastodons' first meet of the season. The Indiana native began his collegiate career with a third place finish at the Mastodon Alumni Open (Sept. 6). Strong's 5K time of 15:41.7 is the sixth fastest time in program history. The freshman aided the 'Dons to a first place finish at the site of the 2025 Horizon League Cross Country Championships.
2024 NCAA Results (Women)
Purdue Fort Wayne finished 21st at least season's Great Lakes Regional. Riley Tate was the first Mastodon to cross the finish line, completing the 6K in 20:58.3 for 73rd. Ava Genovese finished in 92nd as the second 'Don runner to complete the course, finishing in 21:18.6 to place 7th fastest in program history. Haylee Hile set herself on the program's top-ten list for the first time, reaching ninth with a time of 21:46.1 (the time now ranks 10th) for 126th. Lydia Carrell passed 12 runners in the final 1K of the meet to finish 133rd (21:59.2). Faith Allen filled-out the Mastodons' top-five with a time of 22:46.1, placing 173rd.
2024 NCAA Results (Men)
The Mastodons placed 21st at a team in last year's Great Lakes Regional. Harrison Niswander was the first Purdue Fort Wayne runner to cross the finish line (98th), finishing the meet in 31:34.5 and ranking second in the program's 10K finishers. Marcus Ridge filled out the Mastodons' top-five finishers in his first collegiate 10K, the time of 32:47.3 ranks ninth on the program's top-10 finishers and earned him 161st.
NCAA Regional Championship Information
The top two teams in each regional secure automatic bids to the championship. The first four regional finishers not from an automatic qualifying or at-large team also secure an auto-bid to the championships. If a team doesn't secure an automatic bid, it will have to rely on the NCAA DI Cross Country Subcommittee to select it as one of the 13 at-large teams. Only two individual at-larges are selected, making a strong regional performance pivotal to advancing toward a national title.
