Ali Sparks Named #HLTF Field Athlete of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS - Purdue Fort Wayne's Ali Sparks was named Horizon League Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday Feb. 18.
Sparks threw for 14.41 meters in the shot put on Friday (Feb. 14) at the GVSU Big Meet. This distance ranks the furthest in the Horizon League. She also tossed a mark of 17.46 meters in the weight throw at the meet. Sparks' throw only sits behind her own 17.51 meter throw at the Mastodon Opener (Dec. 7).
The Fort Wayne native has previously collected a Horizon League Field Athlete of the Week selection on Jan. 10, 2023. The Carroll graduate was named the 2024 Horizon League Indoor Championship's Most Outstanding Performer for Field Events. The junior was the shot put champion and weight throw runner up at last year's indoor championships.
Purdue Fort Wayne will host the 2025 Horizon League Indoor Championships (March 1-2) in the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse.
