'Dons Complete First Weekend in Outdoor Season

INDIANAPOLIS and ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field program completed their first two meets of the outdoor season, competing at the Marian Knight Invite and WashU Distance Carnival on Thursday and Friday (March 26 & 27).
Four distance-specialized Mastodons traveled to WashU to compete in the Distance Carnival, all four returned with the Horizon League's fastest time in their respective events through the early season. Bella Hodges ran a 2:17.89 800 meters and Haylee Hile completed the 3000 meter steeplechase in 11:18.28 on day one of the meet. Riley Tate finished the 5000 meters (16:47.92) and Ava Genovese ran a 4:51.46 1500 meters on day two to finish the trip for the 'Dons.
The Purdue Fort Wayne throwers covered the league standings after the Marian Knight Invite.
Beginning on day one (March 26), the Mastodons took first through third in the HL discus rankings. McKayla Henry threw a personal record 42.42 meters, Makenna Dommer set a mark of 37.22 meters and Emery Carrico tossed 36.56 meters.
Francesca Carlo (48.42m) and Carrico (40.15m) threw personal record hammer throw marks on the first day in Indianapolis. Ellie Zagel completed her first collegiate hammer throw mark of 39.46 meters and Dommer set a personal record at 38.42 meters.
The 'Don throwers returned in day two (March 27) to continue their success, ranking first through third in shot put. Ali Sparks led the team with a 13.16 meter throw, Carrico reached 12.61 meters and Henry tossed 11.85 meters.
Carrico also took the HL's top javelin throw mark at 37.32 meters, while Zagel's 34.91 meter throw sits third.
Amelie Mach ran the Horizon League's fastest 100 meter hurdles time (14.56) at Marian on Friday (March 27).
Martia Williams reached 10.43 meters to set the league's furthest triple jump mark at the Marian Knight Invite on Friday (March 27).
Scout Warner cleared 1.57 meters in Indianapolis on Friday (March 27), the second best mark in the HL.
Nori Silva (5:21.19) and Violet Francisco (5:23.64) ran their first collegiate 1500 meters at Marian on Friday (March 27).
Bethany Lockridge completed her first collegiate 400 meters in 1:03.20 at the Marian Knight Invite on Friday (March 27).
The Mastodons are back in action on Friday (April 3) at Michigan State's Spartan Invitational.
