McKayla Henry Takes Discus Runner-Up at #HLTF Outdoor Championships

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field program completed the first day of the 2026 Horizon League Outdoor Championships on Friday (May 8).
Senior McKayla Henry scored the most points out of the competing 'Dons, taking runner-up in the discus throw with a mark of 42.65 meters. Makenna Dommer finished third in the event, earning seven points on a 41.58 meter throw.
Emery Carrico earned seven points with a third place finish in the javelin throw, reaching 39.03 meters. Emilia Russell threw a personal record 35.45 meters for seventh in the event.
The Mastodons finished the opening day in third, tallying 22 points. Robert Morris and Youngstown State are tied for the lead with 27 points.
Ava Genovese won the second heat of the 1500 meters preliminary round, qualifying for the final at 12:20 on Sunday (May 10).
Ava McAlexander set two personal records during her first day heptathlon performance: 100 meter hurdles (17.00) and high jump (1.42m). The freshman finished the day with 2053 points and Aubrey Haas has 966.
Francesco Carlo (SP), Carrico (SP), Ava Genovese (800m), Haas (Hep.), Haylee Hile (3000SC), Bella Hodges (800m), Diana Hodges (800m), Bethany Lockridge (800m), Amelie Mach (100H), McAlexander (Hep.), Ali Sparks (SP), Riley Tate (3000SC) and Ellie Zagel (SP) will all compete in day two on Saturday (May 9).
