FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne track and field program will take on the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend (May 8-10), hosted by Oakland.

What to Watch
Several Mastodon athletes currently hold top-three times in the Horizon League standings, set previously this season. Below is the list of athletes and when they will be competing for championships in their individual events:
- Noah Morris holds the Horizon League's top 200 meter dash time and second-best 100 meter dash time this season. The 2025 Indoor 200 Meters Runner-Up will run in the 100 meter dash (3:55 p.m.) and 200 meter dash (5:15 p.m.) preliminary rounds on day two (May 9).
- Senior Ali Sparks owns the league's top hammer throw time and ranks third in the shot put. The five-time Horizon League champion will compete in the hammer throw on the final day (May 10) and shot put during day two (May 9).
- Australia native Sam Dunnett holds the HL's best 1500 meters time and sits at third in the 5000 meters. The two-time runner of the week will run in the 1500 preliminary round on the first day of the meet (May 8) and the 5000 meters during the final day (May 10).
- Bella Hodges owns the league's best 800 meters time this season. The senior will compete in the 800 meter preliminary round on the second day of the meet (May 9) at 4:30 p.m..
- Senior Brevin Miller holds the HL's furthest javelin throw mark this year. The 2025 Outdoor Champion will compete on the opening day of the meet (May 8) at 2 p.m.
- Luca Merita owns the Horizon League's best decathlon finish going into the meet. The 2026 Indoor Runner-Up will compete in the multis event on the first two days of the meet (May 8-9).
- Ava Genovese sits at second in the league's 1500 meters standings. The senior will run in the 1500 meters preliminary round at 7:40 p.m. on the opening day of the meet (May 8).
- Hunter Crew holds the second-furthest hammer throw mark in the HL. The 2025 Outdoor Champion will compete in the event on the final day of the meet (May 10) at 1 p.m.
- Emery Carrico owns the second-furthest javelin throw distance in the Horizon League. The Fort Wayne native is set to compete in the event at 5 p.m. on the opening day of the meet (May 8).
- McKayla Henry sits at third in the league's discus throw this season. The senior will compete in the event on the first day (May 8) at 2 p.m.
- Josiah Bird holds the third spot in the HL's discus throw standings. After taking third in the 2025 Outdoor discus throw, the sophomore will compete in the event at 5 p.m. on the opening day of the meet (May 8).
- Sawyer Ruminer owns third in the Horizon League's pole vault standings. The freshman will compete on the second day of the meet (May 9) at 4 p.m.
Running Like There's Noah Tomorrow
Noah Morris was selected as Horizon League Runner of the Week on April 21. Morris claimed the award after his performance at the Wake Forest Invitational on Friday (April 17). This is Morris' first Horizon League Runner of the Week selection, and the first Mastodon selected during the outdoor season. Link to release.
2025 Outdoor Championships (Women)
The Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field team tied their best league finish at the 2025 Horizon League Outdoor Championship, recording a program-high 129 points. The Mastodons had five event titles: 4x100 meter relay, 4x400 meter relay, discus throw, shot put and hammer throw. The 'Dons return two event champions in Makenna Dommer (DT) and Ali Sparks (SP and HT).
2025 Outdoor Championships (Men)
The Purdue Fort Wayne men's track and field team finished third at the 2025 Horizon League Outdoor Championships, their best team finish in program history with 132 points. The team boasted four event titles: 400 meters, 4x400 meter relay, javelin throw and hammer throw. The 'Dons return event champions in Hunter Crew (HT) and Brevin Miller (JT).
2026 Indoor Championships
The Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field program took third at the 2026 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Mastodons finished with 107 points at the meet. Youngstown State won the meet with 165 points and Milwaukee earned runner-up with 123. The Mastodon men's track and field team took third at the 2026 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships, the program's highest finish at a league indoor meet. The Mastodons tallied 73 points on the weekend. Youngstown State won the meet with 279 points, Milwaukee took runner-up with 83.
#HLTF Outdoor Preseason Polls
The Purdue Fort Wayne track and field programs were both voted third in the 2025-26 Under Armour #HLTF Outdoor Preseason Polls, the league announced on March 12. The Mastodon women's team earned 80 points in the polls, behind Youngstown State (99) and Milwaukee (91). The Penguins took nine first place votes, leaving one for the Panthers. The Mastodon men tallied 49 points in the polls. Youngstown State (63) and Milwaukee (56) owned the top of the men's preseason polls as well, the Penguins took seven of the eight first place votes.
