Hile and Tate Take Steeplechase Second and Third at #HLTF Championships

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field program finished the second day of the 2026 Horizon League Outdoor Championships on Saturday (May 9).
Haylee Hile and Riley Tate finished off the day by combining 15 points in the last event of the day, the 3000 meter steeplechase. Hile recorded her first individual podium finish, taking runner-up with a time of 10:52.51. Tate ran a personal record time of 10:57.55 for third.
The Mastodon throwers added more points to the Mastodon total on the second day. Emery Carrico finished in third with a 13.61 meter mark and Ellie Zagel landed in seventh with a 13.08 meter throw.
The 'Dons sit in third after the second day, with 44 points. Milwaukee holds first place with 52 points and Robert Morris has 46 for second.
Bella Hodges and Ava Genovese secured their place in the 800 meters final. Hodges casually won the fourth heat, crossing the line in 2:15.34, and Genovese turned in a personal record time of 2:15.66 for the sixth fastest in the preliminary round.
Faith Allen (5000m), Kynzlei Bassett (5000m), Francesco Carlo (HT), Makenna Dommer (HT), Violet Francisco (5000m), Genovese (800m, 1500m, 5000m), Hodges (800m), Amelie Mach (HJ), Nori Silva (5000m), Ali Sparks (HT), Tate (5000m), Scout Warner (HJ), Amanda Williams (5000m) and Martia Williams (TJ) will all compete on the final day of the 2026 Horizon League Outdoor Championships (May 10).
