Mastodons Close Regular Season With Setback at CSU

CLEVELAND – The final game of the regular season went to Cleveland State on Saturday (March 1) 68-57. The game, aired live on ESPN2, saw Rasheed Bello score a game-high 20 points with four 3-pointers but it wasn't enough to edge the Vikings.
The Mastodons will turn their attention to the Horizon League postseason thanks to picking up a bye in the opening round. The fifth-seeded 'Dons will play at fourth-seeded Youngstown State on Thursday (March 6) at 7 PM. It will air live on ESPN+ and 1380 AM. The winner will advance to the semifinals in Indianapolis.
The 'Dons got 12 points from Quinton Morton-Robertson and 10 form Eric Mulder. Mulder pulled down seven boards. The Mastodons struggled from the floor in the first half, finishing at 38.1 percent but bounced back to shoot 52.2 percent in the second half.
The 'Dons trailed by as many as 18 points in the first half but were only down 31-24 at the half. Purdue Fort Wayne never tied the contest, but the 'Dons did get within one point. Quinton Morton-Robertson scored five straight to make it a 41-40 game with 11:19 left. It was a three-point game with less than five minutes left but CSU made enough plays down the stretch to the get victory.

The Mastodons fall to 19-12 and finish 12-8 in the Horizon League. Cleveland State improves to 20-11 (14-6).
