'Dons Wrap First Day of Buckeye Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Brock Reschly led the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team on Friday (April 11) with a 74-73-147.
The sophomore's day featured a 1-under performance on the back nine between rounds. His morning started with 11 holes of par or better, including a birdie on 16, the 447-yard 16th. Later in the first round, he birdied hole seven. To start round two, he birdied hole 10 and had three pars in a row. He birdied hole 15 to counteract the bogeys on 14 and 16. Reschly finished his day with eight pars over his last nine holes. He had nothing worse than a bogey all day. He is in a tie for 32nd with 18 to play.
Nick Holder shot 73-75-148 and tied with AJ Agnew for 37th, who shot 72-76-148. Holder had three birdies on the front nine, including back-to-back on his finishing holes, in round one to shoot a 1-under 34 on the side. He rolled onto the back nine with another birdie on hole 10 to start round two. On his last nine of the day, he recovered from a double-bogey on one with seven pars and a birdie over the next eight. Agnew was even in the morning round thanks to birdies on holes five, eight, 13, 14 and 18. In the afternoon, he had just two holes of anything other than a par, sandwiched in the middle of his round. Agnew rattled off nine pars in a row to end his day.
Nick Bellush shot 76-80-156 and is in 71st place. In the morning round, he had back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16 and closed the round with four pars in a row. Later on, he birdied holes eight and 12 in his second time through the course.
Cody Coleman rounded out those competing for the team score, turning in 79-81-160. He had 12 pars in round one and nine in round two. He also birdied hole 10 to start his second trip around to set him up for 76th place
Julian Dugan competed as an individual, carding a 73-79-152 for 59th. He birdied six holes, four of which came in his 1-over morning round.
As a team, the Mastodons shot 295-304-599. They are in 13th place. Michigan leads the pack with a two-round total of 561.
The final round of the Buckeye Classic will fire off on Saturday morning at 8 a.m.
