'Dons Season Comes to a Close at No. 12 McKendree

LEBANON, Ill. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's volleyball's 2025 season comes to a conclusion in the MIVA quarterfinals at second-seed McKendree in three sets (26-24, 25-18, 25-21) on Saturday (April 19).
Set one started out with 11 consecutive ties between the teams. The Mastodons broke the stalemate, jumping out on a 5-1 run to force a timeout at 16-12. McKendree used the timeout to shift momentum, going on their own run of 3-0. The Bearcats owned set-point at 24-21, but the 'Dons scored three consecutive points to force an extended set. McKendree capped off the set with back-to-back points, taking the first 26-24.
Set two began similarly to the first, except this time the Bearcats owned the first run. McKendree rode a dominant 10-3 surge in the middle of the set to claim a 19-10 lead. The Bearcats held off any potential Purdue Fort Wayne pressure, winning the second 25-18.
The 'Dons fell behind early in the final set, but used a 3-0 run to even the score at 6-6. McKendree answered with four unanswered points to go up 13-9. both teams hit over .400 in the last frame, but the Bearcats managed to take the third 25-21.
McKendree finished with 51.0 points, compared to Purdue Fort Wayne's 37.0. The Bearcats won the aces battle 5-1.
Purdue Fort Wayne finishes to 11-15, 4-12 in MIVA play. McKendree continues to 20-7, 13-3 in the MIVA.
