DeAndre Craig Jr. Reaches 1,000 Points in Loss at NKU

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – DeAndre Craig Jr. scored a career-high 24 points and reached 1,000 points for his NCAA career on Wednesday (Feb. 18) evening, but the Mastodons fell 87-71 at Northern Kentucky in Horizon League play.
Craig scored his 24 points on 7-of-14 shooting and an 8-of-10 performance at the free throw line. He scored 19 points in the second half. His 1,000th point came on a free throw with 12:21 remaining in the game for his 14th point of the contest.
Corey Hadnot II hit a pull-up jumper after a Craig three with 8:13 left in the first half to put the Mastodons up 23-18. Hadnot finished with 20 points. NKU grabbed the lead back thanks partly to a 9-0 run late in the first half. Donovan Oday had four of the points as the Norse grabbed a 40-30 lead.
The Mastodons used their own 9-0 run in the second half to get their deficit to six points at 62-56 with 9:40 remaining. However the Norse had an answer for each Mastodon push the rest of the way.
LJ Wells led the Norse with a game-high 29 points.
The Norse improve to 17-11 (9-8 Horizon League). The Mastodons fall to 15-13 (9-8 Horizon League).
Purdue Fort Wayne travels to Cleveland State on Sunday (Feb. 22).
