Ali Sparks Named #HLTF Field Athlete of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS - The Purdue Fort Wayne's women's track and field thrower Ali Sparks was named the Horizon League's Women's Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday (Feb. 3).
The senior threw the Horizon League's best shot put toss of the season at the Meyo Invitational (Jan. 30). Her mark of 14.48 meters earned sixth in South Bend. The Fort Wayne native also threw a 17.42 meter hammer throw mark to take eighth at Notre Dame. The distance ranks third in the league standings.
Sparks earns her third Horizon League Field Athlete of the Week selection (Jan. 10, 2023 & Feb. 18, 2025), first of the season. She had previously been named 2024 Horizon League Indoor Championships Most Outstanding Performer for Field Events and has won six Horizon League Championships events.
The Mastodons will travel to their final meet prior to the 2026 Horizon League Indoor Championships (Feb. 28), traveling to GVSU's Big Meet (Feb. 13).
