HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team will enter the final day of the Horizon League Championship with the lead.
The Mastodons, who shot 299 in round two, are tied with Oakland with a two-round total of 584. Preseason favorite Wright State is one shot back, and Green Bay is four back.
Purdue Fort Wayne was led by Nick Bellush, the No. 5 golfer on day one. Bellush shot a 2-under 70 on Sunday (April 26). He put together a 1-under effort on both nines. After a bogey on 11, he birdied 16 and 17 to go low. After a great up-and-down on 18, he lipped out his eagle putt on hole one and settled for a birdie. He bogeyed five, then birdied eight, which proved to be one of the toughest for the 'Dons. Bellush vaulted up the leaderboard, moving 26 spots up into 14th.
Brock Reschly turned in a 75 in round two, despite going +4 over the last three holes. The junior birdied 11 and 14 on the back nine and three and six on the front. He used a great drive to the middle of the fairway and second shot to set up a birdie putt on six. He is in 10th place with 18 to play.
Despite a 79 in round two, Nick Holder is still in fifth place. He birdied 14 and 17 on the back nine and put together six pars on the front. The most exciting par of the day came on hole seven, when he chipped in from the right side of the green.
Justin Hicks shot 76 on Sunday thanks to 13 pars and a birdie on hole 14. He was 1-under over his first seven holes on the back without a bogey, then parred the first six of the front. Hicks is in 20th place.
AJ Agnew is in 31st place after his second round of 78. He had birdies on 11 and 14 in the early part of his round before four pars to wrap up the back nine. He parred four, five and six. He birdied hole eight, overcoming a daunting wind-raddled shot over water.
The last round for the men will begin at 12:50 p.m. on Monday (April 27). The Mastodons are seeking their first Horizon League title since 2023.
