Mastodons Drop #HLWSOC Opener at Detroit Mercy

DETROIT - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer team dropped its Horizon League opener to Detroit Mercy 3-0 on Saturday (Sept. 19).
The Mastodons held a 6-5 advantage in shots in the second half. Scarlett Webster led Purdue Fort Wayne with three shots, while Cyann Retzloff, Bella Masse and Kailey Hansen each recorded two. Hansen, Masse and Ariadne Herrera each put a shot on goal.
Aimee Abraham finished with six saves in goal for the 'Dons.
Detroit Mercy took control of the match early, scoring in the second and 14th minutes. The Titans added a third goal in the 48th minute.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 1-6-1 overall and 0-1-0 in Horizon League play. Detroit Mercy improves to 3-4-0 overall and 1-0-0 in league action.
The Mastodons continue league play at Robert Morris on Thursday (Sept. 24).
