Mastodons Take Fourth at Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. – Led by Julian Dugan's 10th-place finish, the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team finished fourth at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational on Sunday (Sept. 27).
The Mastodons climbed one spot from Saturday's opening two rounds. Brock Reschly led the 'Dons in the final round with a 2-under performance, while Nick Bellush was 1-under. Dugan and Ball State transfer Gavin Hare each finished with an even 70.
Dugan led the Mastodons individually for the event, tying for 10th with a 73-68-70-211. The junior opened on hole five and recorded pars on his first seven holes. He added birdies on holes 12, 15 and 18 before a par on hole two put him at 1-over. Dugan then birdied his next hole to return to even before closing with a par.
Reschly moved up 16 spots to finish in 12th at 71-73-68-212. He opened with a par before recording back-to-back birdies. After another birdie on hole 12, Reschly posted seven consecutive pars before birdieing his final two holes to card his lowest round of the weekend and match his lowest of the season.
Hare tied for 21st with a 73-71-70-214. He opened with a birdie on hole seven before playing his next three holes at even-par. Hare birdied hole 13 and followed with pars on holes 14-17, one and two. He added two more birdies over his final four holes.
Bellush tied for 29th with a 73-73-69-215. The senior opened 1-over on hole eight before recording birdies on holes 12, 15 and 17.
AJ Agnew tied for 44th at 73-71-75-219. He recorded birdies on holes seven, nine, 11, 12 and 13.
Brady Moore competed as an individual and tied for 61st with a 70-77-75-222.
As a team, the Mastodons carded rounds of 290, 283 and 277 for an 850 total, moving up one spot to finish fourth. Reigning Horizon League champion Wright State finished two strokes ahead of the 'Dons, while the host Ball State squad (844) placed second and Butler (828) won the team title. Purdue Fort Wayne finished ahead of three Horizon League opponents: IU Indy, Northern Kentucky and Cleveland State.
Purdue Fort Wayne returns to action at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational in Westlake, Ohio, on October 5-6.
