Andrew Strong Leads 'Dons at Mastodon Alumni Open

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's cross country team opened the season with a second-place finish at the Mastodon Alumni Open on Saturday (Sept. 5). Freshman Andrew Strong set a new Purdue Fort Wayne 4K program record at the meet.
Andrew Strong was the first Mastodon to cross the finish line, taking fourth with a time of 15:38.3.
Riley Lembke finished his first collegiate meet in 10th place with a time of 16:11.1. Fellow freshmen Aidan Green (23rd, 16:43.6) and Donovan Ryan (35th, 17:19.3) also completed their first collegiate races as Mastodons.
Purdue Fort Wayne took second at the Mastodon Alumni Open with 29 points. Marian won the meet with 26 points, while Indiana Tech placed third with 87 points.
The Mastodons will host their next meet at the Mastodon Cross Country Course, competing in the Rumble In The Fort on Saturday (Sept. 19).

Jack Strong followed with a new personal-best time of 15:41.3 to finish fifth.
Bryan Garcia and Austin Hall were the next two Mastodons to cross the finish line.
