2008-09 Season
Yearby was named The Summit League's Sixth Man of the Year. Tied the IPFW All-Time single season mark for blocks with 54 (David Simon, 2003-04). Broke the IPFW All-Time single game mark for blocks with seven vs. Oral Roberts on Feb. 7 (previous mark was 6 by three players). In that same contest against the Golden Eagles he posted his career-highof 23 points. Pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds at UMKC on Dec. 6. Also grabbed 11 boards at #24 Marquette on Dec. 13. Made a season high five free throws on four occasions (Nov. 25 vs. IU-East, Dec. 6 at UMKC, Feb. 7 vs. Oral Roberts and Mar. 8 in The Summit League Quarterfinals vs. Oakland).
For the season, Yearby averaged 9.1 points and 6.3 rebounds a game. He shot 49.0% from the floor. His 6.3 rebounds per game average placed him eighth overall in The Summit League. He was second in both blocked shots (54) and blocked shots per game (1.8). Yearby was tied for 6th in the conference in offensive rebounds with 2.3 a game and 10th in the conference in defensive rebounds at 4.0 per game.
Before Coming to IPFW
IPFW fans have anxiously been awaiting the arrival of Deilvez Yearby. Caught in a numbers crunch at Kansas State, Yearby transferred to IPFW last season and sat out due to NCAA Transfer Eligibility Rules.
With the Wildcats, Yearby appeared in 14 contests his freshman year, averaging 1.6 points and 0.8 rebounds a game. His sophomore season, Yearby averaged 0.8 points and 0.6 boards a contest in just 11 games. At Central High School in Detroit, Michigan, he averaged 21.4 points and 12. 1 rebounds during his season season. A season that saw him post 20 double-doubles on the way to the Region 4 Championship game.
Personal
Deilvez is the son of Rivieraia Yearby. He has two siblings, Dalvouhn and Trenecia. He is currently a General Studies major at IPFW.
