Head Coach Chris Paul is pleased to announce the hiring of Lee Larkins as the newest member of the IPFW women's basketball coaching staff.
Coach Larkins spent time as both a director and a coach for the Indiana Elite Central Girls AAU program before becoming the founder of the Indiana Explosion AAU Basketball Club in 2009.
“We are extremely pleased to have coach Larkins join our basketball staff this season,” Paul explained. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program, not only on the basketball court, but off it as well. He is a high-energy, high-character guy that fits perfect with this coaching staff and the players that we have here at IPFW.”
Larkins graduated from Purdue University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education, specializing in recreation and health. He went back to school to earn his master's degree in guidance and counseling at New Mexico Highlands University in 1985.
Larkins has years of professional experience ranging from being a coach, counselor, and athletic director. As a student-athlete at Purdue University, Larkins was a three-year letterman for the Boilermaker football team earning All-Big Ten Honors during the 1979 season at the linebacker position.
Larkins obtained his first collegiate coaching job soon after graduation as he joined the football coaching staff at Purdue in 1979. Numerous football coaching positions followed his time at Purdue, but his first basketball coaching experience was at Hackensack High School in 1986. Larkins helped coach the boys' team at Hackensack H.S. and would go on to get his first experience coaching women's basketball in 1994 by working with the Hamilton Southeastern Girls Basketball Youth Program
