Doug Schreiber was named the 12th head coach of the Purdue Fort Wayne baseball program in July 2019. The 2025 campaign will be his sixth as the head of the Mastodons.
Prior to leading the Mastodons, Schreiber spent 1999-2016 as the head coach of the Boilermakers. He was the 2012 Big Ten Coach of the Year after leading Purdue to the Big Ten Regular Season and Tournament championship.
Schreiber is the son of legendary La Porte High School baseball coach Ken Schreiber, a three-time National Prep Coach of the Year who retired in 1998. The elder Schreiber guided La Porte to an Indiana-record seven state championships, including the 1982 season when Doug was a senior co-captain and starting shortstop. Schreiber was also named the recipient of the prestigious L.V. Phillips Mental Attitude Award presented by the IHSAA following his team's state championship run.
Schreiber earned his bachelor's degree in communications from Purdue in 1986. He was a four-year starter at second base for the Boilermakers.
Schreiber and his wife Sarah reside in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
