‘Dons Fall to Milwaukee in First Game of #HLBASE Championship

The 'Dons will return to action later today to face the loser of No. 4 Youngstown State and No. 5 Oakland. First pitch at Nischwitz Stadium is set for 7 p.m. It will be a win or go home contest for both clubs.
The 'Dons got on the board first Wednesday morning with a Kevin Hall sacrifice fly in the first that scored Brooks Sailors.
Purdue Fort Wayne added two in the fourth with back-to-back two-out doubles by Owen Willard and Nick Hockemeyer. But by then it made it a 11-3 game after Milwaukee took control of the contest with a seven-run second inning. The Panthers had four triples in the inning to tie single-inning NCAA record.
While the 'Dons would eventually fall in the contest, they had their chances, stranding 14 runners in the game and at-least one in every frame. They left the bases loaded in the fifth and sixth innings. In the first they ended the inning with a bases loaded double play. In the seventh, a one-out first and second threat ended with a double play.
Brooks Sailors hit a solo home run in the eighth inning, his fourth home run of the season. Sailors and Drew Helton each had three hits for the 'Dons. Justin Osterhouse, Camden Karczewski and Jackson Micheels each had two knocks.
Dillon Fischer (1-8) took the loss for the 'Dons. Tyler Andrews (2-1) got the win for the Panthers in relief. Charlie Marion drove in five runs for Milwaukee. He had a home run in the first inning.
Milwaukee improves to 22-33. The 'Dons fall to 11-41.
