In 2012, he made an immediate impact to the program as he led the men’s tennis team to their best season since joining the Division I ranks. The team recorded their first ever winning season (12-11) in route to claiming a share of the Summit League regular season championship, the first in school history.
The 2012 season also saw three of Barnett’s players gain All Summit League honors. For his efforts, Barnett was named Summit League Coach of the Year.
Originally, from Colorado Springs, Colorado, Barnett played and lettered two years at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Barnett has been a USPTA P-1 Certified teaching professional for 13 years and has worked at various tennis clubs around the United States including stints as the Director of Junior Tennis at Trophy Club Country Club. He is currently employed at Pine Ridge Racquet and Fitness Club in Fort Wayne.
