
Mastodons Fall to Memphis in Opener of Evansville Classic

Evansville, IN - The IPFW men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to the University of Memphis Tigers, Friday night, in their opening match of the Evansville Aces Classic.
The bigger and faster Tigers, out of Conference-USA, dominated play in the match outshooting IPFW, 25-6.
Memphis used their size as an advantage, getting all of their scoring from close in. In the 8th minute of the match, sophomore Brian Farrell got his first of the season from just about six yards out to the far post.
At the 15:51 mark, Farrell assisted as junior Jordan Lynn got loose from about six yards out and beat IPFW keeper Josh Howell to the middle of the box.
Memphis wrapped up the scoring with a pair of goals in a seven-minute time span in the second half to take the match, 4-0.
Tiger keepers Tyler Strom and Keagan Graham combined for the shutout. Strom turned back the only IPFW shot he faced.
Howell stopped six Memphis shots in the loss.
With the loss, IPFW falls to 2-5-1. The 'Dons will play host Evansville, in their final match of the tournament, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
