
IPFW Falls to Centenary in OT

Shreveport, LA -- Despite having an early 1-0 advantage, the IPFW Mastodons fell to the Centenary Gents Friday night 2-1 in Shreveport, LA.
The 'Dons struck first as freshmen Max Touloute and Kevin Crombie connected for a goal in the 30th minute. Crombie was able to net a header from five yards after the assist from Touloute. The goal was Crombie's first for the year and his career.
IPFW held the lead going into intermission but the match was quickly tied as the Gents' Dragan Hinic was assisted by Sammy Robinson in the 55th minute for his first goal of the year.
The match was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation. Mastodon Cory Keitz took the first shot in overtime but it was blocked. Centenary was then fouled and set up for a penalty kick. The kick found the back of the net ending the match 2-1. The final goal for the Gents was scored by Brian Hurlburt in the 95th minute.
The 'Dons finished with three shots on goal (Liridon Qafleshi, Colin Helmrich and Crombie) and also took eight shots (Qafleshi, Helmrich and Keitz with two, and Crombie and Touloute with one respectively).
Mastodon senior keeper Michael Knitter grabbed seven saves in the contest compared to two for Gent keeper Rennie Walker.
Next up for the Mastodons is a non-conference bout at Cleveland State on Wednesday October 8, at 7 p.m. ET.
