Box Score
Detroit, MI - One hundred and ten minutes of soccer weren't enough for the IPFW Mastodons and Detroit Titans, as the two sides battled to a 3-3 double overtime tie.
The action got off to a quick start, as the Titans jumped on the board early. Just 29 seconds into play, Titan forward Ya Ya Toure got a head on a cross from Mike Chiandussi, scoring his seventh goal of the season to go up 1-0 early.
The 1-0 tally would hold throughout the remaining 44 minutes of the opening half, leading to a busy second half that saw five more goals get scored.
Just two and a half minutes into second half action, Mastodon forward Jorge Ramirez followed up a rebound after a laser shot from Cory Keitz ricocheted off the mitts of the Titan keeper.
Six minutes later, it would be Keitz again on the helper, as he fed a streaking Andy Masteller who fired a shot from the left wing into the bottom right corner of the cage, giving his side a 2-1 advantage.
In the 68th minute of action, the Titans would tie the game at two after a monster throw-in from Adam Bedell. Bedell launched a ball into the box where Kevin Pinkos converted on a header, leaving the score at an even two each.
The 77th minute of action would see the fourth goal of the half, as IPFW's Max Touloute, atop the conference leaders in goals scored, found the back of the net for his eighth goal of the season. He took a touch from Ramirez after a loose ball scramble in front of the net left an opening. His first tally of the game gave IPFW a 3-2 advantage with just 13 minutes to play.
With exactly six minutes remaining in regulation, the Titans would post the tying score. Sam Seppo scored the Titans third header of the game from eight yards out after another assist from Seppo, to give the match its final score of the game.
Twenty minutes of golden goal soccer warranted zero scores and the two sides had to settle for a tie.
Touloute led the Mastodon offense with seven shots while Ramirez posted three points (1 G, 1 A).
With the tie, the 'Dons move to 2-11-1. They return to action next Saturday (Oct. 23) as they travel to UMKC for an 8 p.m. Summit League showdown.
