Box Score
Cleveland, OH - In a game that could be described as a defensive struggle, it was a single IPFW mistake in the box that decided the final outcome, as the Mastodons fell to the Cleveland State Vikings, 1-0.
Just ten minutes into the game, the Vikings drew a whistle after rough play in the box and a penalty kick was awarded. The Vikings sent Manual Conde in to take the kick and he blasted it past the IPFW keeper for the early score.
The game would end in the 1-0 final despite a number of opportunities from each side. The Mastodons would take a total of 11 shots, with eight of those on goal ending in Brad Stuver saves. IPFW's Donovan Dowling posted six saves on 11 total Viking shots.
Junior forward Max Touloute led the Mastodon offense with four total shots in the loss. In all, five cards were issued,
With the defeat, IPFW falls to 2-6 on the year. They return to action Friday (Sept. 24) with the 2010 Summit League opener as the Oakland Grizzlies will make the trip to Hefner Stadium in Fort Wayne. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
