Fort Wayne, IN - IPFW used a balanced effort that saw five players reach double-figures in the scoring column, as the Mastodons out-scored Centenary 47-17 in the second half, running away with a 89-43 win at the Gates Center, giving IPFW its 14th win of the season, a new record-high for the Mastodons in its NCAA Division I era.
IPFW improves to 14-6, the best 20-game start since 1995-96, and also moved to 8-3 in league play, and back into a two-way tie for second place in the league standings after tonight's Oral Roberts double-overtime win over Oakland.
Chelsey Jackson scored a game-high 23 points, as she finished three tallies shy of 1,000 for her career. Stephanie Rosado made 7-of-11 shots from the field for 18 points, while Amanda Hyde was a perfect 5-for-5 for 14 points, as Sydney Weinert and Jordan Zuppe added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Weinert pulled down a game-high seven rebounds, with Zuppe adding six, as IPFW out-rebounded the Ladies 36-to-17. Jackson added five rebounds and dished out a game-high four assists, as the Mastodons had a 14-to-14 assist-to-turnover ratio.
The Mastodons made a season-high 57.4 percent (31-of-54) of its shots, and 92.3 percent (24-of-26) free throws, also a season high for IPFW.
IPFW jumped out to a 6-0 lead, and never looked back, never trailing over the entirety of the game. The Ladies cut the deficit to eight at 22-14 following a Megan Daniel lay-in, before Hyde converted an old-fashioned three-point-play, which was followed by a Weinert lay-in, and then a Jackson three-pointer to push the Mastodon lead to 16 at 30-14.
The Mastodon advantage never dipped into single digits again, as IPFW took a 16-point, 42-26 lead into the locker room at halftime.
IPFW opened the second half on a 14-3 run to push the lead to 27 at 56-29, and the team cruised the rest of the way, as 10-of-11 players that saw playing time reached the scoring column, including the first points by Marceya Mingo in her Mastodon career.
Centenary committed 23 turnovers against just six assists, as the team was led by Anne Farrell who scored 11 points, while Jalena Sanders and Ne-Ne Cook each added eight.
The Mastodons return to action on Saturday, February 5 when the team travels to Macomb, Illinois, to face off against the Leathernecks of Western Illinois University in a 5:30 PM EST tip-off at the Waste Management Court.
