Zimmerman's Second Straight PR Leads IPFW in North Carolina

BOONE, N.C. - Behind a second personal-best in as many races from senior Steven Zimmerman paced the IPFW Mastodons to a 22nd place finish at the 2011 Blue Ridge Open hosted by Appalachian State University.
Zimmerman's time of 27:42.9 was four seconds quicker than his previous best, ran at the Notre Dame Invitational two weeks ago. Zimmerman's time was good for 129th in the field.
Cody Sengthong placed 148th with a time of 28:13.1, while Taylor Crowell placed 162nd in 28:35.4. In its final race before the 2011 Summit League Championships, the team's top five was rounded out by Vince Coronia (171st/19:02.3) and Erich Campbell (182nd/29:34.6), as Randy McComb placed 192 in a time of 30:14.2, the sixth finisher for the 'Dons.
The 'Dons took 22nd of 23 teams in the field with 639 points, 34 ahead of Longwood, and 83 behind Gardner-Webb.
After a week layoff, the Mastodons travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to compete in the 2011 Summit League Championships, hosted by Oral Roberts University.
