Women's Volleyball Hosts Leathernecks in Final Home Weekend

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW Mastodons host Western Illinois University on Friday evening, in the first of two games to end the 2011 regular season. The Leathernecks and Mastodons went five sets earlier this season in Macomb, with the 'Dons pulling out the fifth set 15-12.

SCOUTING THE LEATHERNECKS
Western Illinois comes into its final weekend of the season having dropped five of its last six matches, with the one victory coming against Chicago State on November 1.
The balanced Leatherneck offense is paced by Cait Egan who has 265 kills, while Ann Miller has 246, and Katie Hosteng with 234. Brooke Stittleburg has added 134, with Samantha Fournier close behind with 122. Sarah Fetter has dished out 916 assists (9.64 per set), as Molly Murphy has a team-best 41 service aces.
Bridget Murphy is the conference leader with 579 digs (6.03 per set), while ranking fourth in the country in the category. Miller is second on the team with 327 digs, while Murphy (291), and Fetter (222) each have over 200 digs on the year. Egan leads the team in blocking with 76 total blocks, an average of 0.73 blockes per set.

• Megan Steenhuysen and Tessa McGill were named the Summit League Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week on October 24
• Junior libero Tessa McGill has recorded double-figure digs in each of her last 35 games dating back to last season, thesecond longest such streak in program history which gives her two of the three longest such streaks

• Emily Spencer has 19 double-doubles in her 27 matches at IPFW, a freshman record, while Megan Steenhuysen has picked up eight this season, giving her 35 in her career, tied for the sixth most over a career in program history
• Against South Dakota on October 7, IPFW head coach Kelley Hartley Hutton picked up her 400th career coaching victory
• Tessa McGill has climbed into 10th in Summit League history in career digs, now with 1,514
• IPFW junior libero Tessa McGill was named the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week on September 12, the fourth time in her career she has earned the honor
• Freshman outside hitter Kendall Wienkes tied the IPFW single-match three-set record with seven service aces against the Cowgirls of Wyoming
• With 33 digs against Oral Roberts on October 29, Tessa McGill now has ten 30+ dig efforts in her career at IPFW.
• Emily Spencer recorded double-figure kills in each of her first 24 matches this season, the longest streak by a player
to open her IPFW career in program history, passing the former mark of nine held by IPFW career kill leader Fabiana Souza.
• McGill became the program's 14th member of the 1,000-dig club against Milwaukee, and she reached 1,000 career digs in just 69 matches, the quickest to the milestone of any player in program history
