Women's Basketball Hosts South Dakota in Summit League Opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW Mastodons open its 2011-12 Summit League season on Thursday afternoon when the squad plays host to the South Dakota Coyotes, in the visitors' first game as a member of the Summit League.

SCOUTING THE COYOTES
The University of South Dakota comes into Thursday's meeting, its first ever against the Mastodons, with an unblemished
4-0 record, including a 94-16 blowout victory over Tabor College on Sunday.
The team has just one player averaging double-figure points (Amber Hegge at 18.3), but sports seven others
that average over five points per game, led by Tempestt Wilson (9.0) and followed closely by Annie Roche (8.8),
Alexis Yackley (8.0), Kelly Stewart (6.3), Jodie Boss (6.3), McKayla Knudson (6.0), and Ashley Olson (5.3).
Boss leads the squad with 7.5 rebounds per game, while Hegge is close behind at 6.3 caroms per contest.
Yackley has dished out 26 assists, twice as many as her nearest Coyote teammate, as Boss has 13 blocked shots,
and Yackley 11 steals, each team-highs.
LAST TIME OUT
Three Mastodons recorded double-digit point totals, but it wasn't enough to slow down a quick and aggressive
Hampton backcourt, as the Pirates moved past IPFW 79-62 at the Gates Sports Center on Saturday afternoon.
Stephanie Rosado led the Mastodons with a season-high 20 points, hitting 12 of 14 attempts from the foul
line. Erin Murphy scored 18 points, while Anne Boese totaled 13. Pirate Choicetta McMillen drained a career-high
29 points in the win.
The Mastodons shot 37% from the floor (17-46) and 73% (25-34) from the charity stripe. The 'Dons committed
20 turnovers, while forcing 13.
QUICK HITTERS
• Senior Anne Boese has climbed into fifth in Summit League history with 243 career three-point baskets made, and trails the all-time conference leader (Brenna Doty of Buffalo) by 19. She is in a neck-in-neck race with South Dakota State senior Jill Young for the career makes record, as Young has 236.
• In addition to climbing near a new Summit League record, Boese is also within near striking distance of the career school record of 250, held by recently graduated Jordan Zuppe. Boese's 243 is currently the second-highest total in school history.
• In other milestone watches, seniors Boese and Stephanie Rosado are climbing towards the 1,000-point plateau, Boese now with 972 career points and Rosado with 967.
• The Mastodons have made a three-point basket in 381 consecutive games, the fifth longest active streak in the NCAA
• IPFW is 6-1 all-time on December 1 in Fort Wayne, Indiana (0-1 on the road).
