WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Despite notching a game-high 16 offensive rebounds, the IPFW Mastodons fell victim to an aggressive Purdue squad 73-36 Thursday evening at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Ind.

The Mastodons drop their fourth-straight contest, falling to 4-8 this season. The Boilermakers improve to 10-3. Purdue is now 3-0 all-time against IPFW.

After the Boilermakers controlled the tip and missed its first field goal attempt, Erin Murphy drove the court and scored the game's first points with a three-pointer, giving IPFW a 3-0 early lead.

Two free throws from Stephanie Rosado, followed by a trey from Anne Boese brought the score to 7-7 with 15:10 left in the opening frame.

On the next possession, Purdue's Antionette Howard powered in a layup to help steamroll a 29-5 Boilermaker run, taking the score to 36-12 at halftime. IPFW mustered one field goal in the final 15 minutes of the half.

In the second half, the Mastodons picked up a quick jumper from Boese and two more free throws from Rosado to make the score 50-20 in favor of Purdue.

Following back-to-back baskets from Rachel Mauk and Stefanie Mauk, the Boilermakers continued to build their lead by feeding the post, notably to Sam Ostarello, who recorded 13 points and eight rebounds on the night. Purdue finished with four players scoring in double-figures en route to a 73-36 home win.

IPFW made 12 of 52 baskets (23%) against a feisty Boilermaker defense, while hitting 7-13 (54%) free throws. The Mastodons committed 22 turnovers, forcing 12 from Purdue.

Rosado led the 'Dons with nine points and four rebounds, while going 5-8 from the charity stripe.

IPFW will remain on the road for its next game at North Dakota State on Dec. 29. Game-time is set for 7:00 p.m. EST.
