Las Crucas, NM - The New Mexico State Aggies continued their red-hot hitting on Sunday in the series finale against IPFW. The Aggies pounded out 13 hits in a 16-8 win over the Mastodons at Presley Askew Field.

Right fielder Bryan Karraker was 3-3 with a pair of RBI and two runs scored and second baseman Parker Hipp and catcher Zac Fisher each had a pair of hits and four RBI in the win.

IPFW staked NMSU to a 5-0 lead after two before closing the gap in the top of the third.

Mastodon shortstop Will Faulkner increased his hitting streak to nine games with an RBI single to left field to start the scoring for IPFW. He was followed by center fielder Kurt Dudley, first baseman A.J. Christensen and designated hitter Brett Clark with RBIs. That made the score 5-4 Aggies.

New Mexico State (15-5) added two in their half of the fourth as third baseman Zachary Voight blasted his first homer of the season. The two-run shot to left center made it 7-4.

IPFW would go on to tie the game in the top of the 6th inning. After back-to-back walks to Clark and left fielder Cody Galbraith, Mastodon third baseman Kristian Gayday laced a double down the left field line scoring the pair. Gayday would eventually score on a pair of wild pitches by NSMU reliever Randy Montoya.

But as they had throughout the series, the Aggies would respond in a big way when IPFW threatened. New Mexico State scored five times in the bottom of the sixth, three coming on a bases clearing double by Fisher. They got a single run in the 7th inning, and three more in the 8th inning to win it, 16-8.

New Mexico State reliever Trey Ross got the win (4-1). He gave up just two hits in 1.2 innings with a strikeout.

IPFW reliever Matt Ransbottom was tagged with the loss (0-1). He gave up seven runs on six hits in 3.2 innings.

With the loss, IPFW falls to 2-10 on the campaign. The Mastodons will open up the home portion of their season on Friday afternoon, hosting Milwaukee in the first of three games at Mastodons Field. First pitch is set for noon.
