Women's Basketball Steps out of Conference on Monday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - IPFW steps out of Summit League play for the final time in the 2011-12 season, as the Mastodons (6-11 overall) host the Longwood Lancers in a 7 p.m. tip-off at the Gates Sports Center on Monday evening.

SCOUTING THE LANCERS
Longwood, out of Farmville, Virginia, comes into tonight's game with a 4-16 record.
The team has struggled offensively this season, and averages just 51.5 points per game, currently ranked 326th in NCAA Division I out of 336 teams, while shooting .324 percent from the field, 331st in the country.
The Lancers are 3-0 this season when scoring over 60 points, and have been held below 40 points three times, including a season-low 26 points at Notre Dame on December 28.
Things have turned around recently for Longwood, who has played 15 of its 20 games away from home so far this year, as the Lancers have won two of their last three games, including a 72-71 win over NJIT on Saturday.
For the season the Lancers have no players averaging in double-figures in the scoring column; however, there are five players averaging near or over eight points per game.
Brittanni Billups averages a team-best 9.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, while Erin Neal (9.7), Crystal Smith (9.5), Chelsea Coward (8.3), and Mina Jovanovic (7.9) are all near the top of the team in scoring.
Smith has a team-best 39 steals, while Heather Tobeck has blocked 31 shots on the season, both tops on the squad.
LAST TIME OUT
Playing without two starters out because of injury, the IPFW Mastodons fell victim to a 16-2 second-half run, turning a tie score into a 14-point deficit, as the Oakland Golden Grizzlies pulled away late for a 67-47 Summit League win at the Memorial Coliseum.
With the loss, IPFW falls to 6-11 on the year and 4-3 in the Summit League, while Oakland improves to 8-8 overall, with an identical 4-3 league mark.
Amanda Hyde scored a team-high 10 points, as Mur Hagerman scored a career-high nine points, and Anne Boese added eight. Hyde pulled down a team-best five rebounds, while also leading the team with two blocked shots, two steals, and tying for the team-lead with two assists.
CLIMBING THE CONFERENCE LADDER
Twice this season IPFW senior Anne Boese has broken the Summit League's career record in three-point field goals made. Boese's record of 267 did not last long each time, as South Dakota State senior Jill Young passed Boese each time. The record will likely change hands numerous times over the second half of the season, and after the dust settles, one of the two will hold the all-time mark.
QUICK HITTERS
• This season IPFW senior Anne Boese has twice broken the Summit League career record for three-point baskets made, as she now has 267; however, both times she was passed by South Dakota State senior Jill Young, who now has 268 on her career, which is the new and current career mark.
• The 36 points scored by IPFW against Purdue on December 22 are the fewest scored in a game by the 'Dons since the squad was held to 28 at Indiana State on December 28, 2002.
• In other milestone watches, both Stephanie Rosado and Anne Boese have eclipsed the 1,000-point
plateau this month. Rosado accomplished the feat against UMKC on December 3, while Boese did it
against Valparaiso three days later.
• The Mastodons have made a three-point basket in 392 consecutive games, the fifth longest active
streak in the NCAA.
• IPFW has used seven different starting lineups this season, with only Anne Boese starting all 17 games for the Mastodons.
• IPFW head coach Chris Paul is the program's all-time win leader
