FORT WAYNE, Ind. - A pair of second-half goals from reserve Jordan Aidoud pushed the Valparaiso Crusaders past the IPFW Mastodons in a non-conference battle on Tuesday evening by a 3-1 score.

The game was the final non-conference battle of the season for the Mastodons, as the squad falls to 3-14-1, with the team set to face off against the IUPUI Jaguars in the regular-season finale on Saturday, November 3, in senior night at the Hefner Soccer Field.

The first 30 minutes of action went quickly, as there were just three total shots before Valparaiso's Jon Smith took a pass from Yannick Iwunze and put it past a diving Brandon Cloutier to give the Mastodons a 1-0 advantage 33:05 into the game.

After going over a half hour before the first goal, it took less than six minutes to see the second goal of the match when Corey Thompson sent a pass across the box to a waiting Corey Tom, who chipped the ball into the goal for his team-leading fourth goal of the season, knotting the score at one goal apiece.

IPFW got a shot off while Valparaiso got two in the final nine minutes of the half, but none would find their target, as the team's went into the locker room knotted at one goal apiece.

Just over seven minutes into the second half Aidoud scored the first of his two goals when he picked up a saved shot attempt, and put it into the back of the net, giving the visitors a 2-1 advantage. Just over two minutes later Aidoud converted on a penalty kick to give the game its 3-1 final score.

The final 34-plus minutes went by scoreless, as the Crusaders cruised to the 3-1 win.

Valparaiso out-shot IPFW 18-to-11 in the game, while Cloutier had a game-best four saves. Zach Rodgers had three shots to lead the team, as Mitch Falkenstern and Tom each had two.
