The Jaguars have book-ended the series by the first and last three games, with IPFW holding a 8-4-1 lead in the middle 13 contests. IUPUI won the meetings in 1987, 1988, and 1989, before IPFW got its first win in the 1992 season. From 1992 until 1996 IPFW went 4-0-1 with the only tie coming via a 2-2 score in 1993.
The last IPFW win in the series came in 2008, a 1-0 victory in Fort Wayne, as the Jaguars have claimed wins in 2009 (2-0), 2010 (2-1, 2ot), and 2011 (4-3, 2ot).
LAST MEETING
The Jaguars scored twice within the first 11 minutes of the contest, the first on a corner kick in the ninth minute, and then on an own goal less than three minutes later to give the hosts a two-goal advantage. The lead went to 3-0 in the 31st minute, and sending IUPUI into the locker room with a 3-0 halftime advantage.
Fourteen minutes into the second half, freshman Myles Stanley found the back of the net after a corner kick was knocked around in the box, before the freshman put his foot on the ball and ended the shutout hopes in the process.
Stanley, who had one career goal scored coming into the match, added his second of the contest just over six minutes later off of a Colin Helmrich cross, cutting the deficit to one.
Another 10 minutes passed before Scott Williams provided the equalizer when Kyle Ackerman's shot was stopped by the keeper, with the ball finding Williams' foot, and then the back of the net, knotting the score at three apiece.
The Mastodons would get two more shots over the final 14 minutes, but could not find the back of the net, sending the match into an extra period. The first extra stanza was played with a stifling defense, as each team was able to get off just one shot apiece, and neither into the goal.
IUPUI controlled the action in the second overtime, peppering IPFW goalkeeper Brandon Cloutier with a corner kick and a subsequent shot, before the Jaguars' Sam Fuller found the net with a header from inside the six, helping IUPUI hold on for the win.
IPFW out-shot the Jaguars 15-10, as Cloutier had one save, while his counterpart, Tyler Keever, had three.
