They went to Tulsa to claim a 74-72 road win in the first matchup and ended the series with a 96-83 win at the Gates Sports Center.
LAST TIME OUT
IPFW defeated the Oakland Golden Grizzlies by the final score of 52-45 on Saturday afternoon. Stephanie Rosado was a major factor in the win as the senior returned to her home state to score a game-high 20 points while pulling down eight rebounds.
Sarah Haluska scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds in the win. Erin Murphy matched Haluska with eight points off the bench for the 'Dons. Amanda Hyde and Anne Boese hit big shots to help pull out the victory. Hyde scored six points and led the team in rebounds with nine. Boese once again attacked from the perimeter with two 3-point field goals. She added a free throw which resulted in a seven point effort.
The 'Dons got off to a fast start and led by as many as 13 points in the first half. The IPFW defense was locked in early allowing the team to get out to a 14-2 lead. The Grizzlies first field goal of the game didn't come until the 10:35 mark. Saturday's game marked the first road win of the season for IPFW. They also snapped a six-game losing streak.
QUICK HITTERS
• IPFW senior Anne Boese is currently the Summit League career record holder for three-point field goals made with 287. Boese will have to hold off South Dakota State senior Jill Young during the final stretch of the season as Young has 281. Both of these sharpshooters took down the old record of 262 which was held by Buffalo's Brenna Doty. Doty played from 1994-97.
• The Mastodons have made a three-point basket in 400 consecutive games, which is now the fourth longest active streak in the NCAA. IPFW moved to fourth on Thursday night (Feb. 9) as the Loyola Ramblers went 0-for-8 from the three-point line snapping their streak at 446.
• Senior Stephanie Rosado has reached double figure scoring in each of her last eight starts.
• IPFW has used nine different starting lineups this season, with only Anne Boese starting all 25 games for the Mastodons.
• IPFW set a new school record vs. SDSU by hitting all 19 of their free throw attempts. The 19-for-19 mark tops the old record of 15-for-15 which was set during the 1993 season. It also marks the third best performance from the charity stripe in Summit League history.
• In other milestone watches, both Stephanie Rosado and Anne Boese have eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau this month. Rosado accomplished the feat against UMKC on December 3, while Boese did it against Valparaiso three days later. Rosado currently has 1,189 career points, while Boese is close behind her at 1,173.
